Bristol Bears rounded off their pre-season campaign with another fightback victory, as they recovered from 28-15 down to edge out Scarlets on Friday night.

Jake Heenan, Harry Randall and Luke Morahan touched down for the Bears during a topsy-turvy first-half, before Scarlets rallied through Scott Williams, Vaea Fifita, Daf Hughes and Tomas Lezana to lead by 13 on the hour mark.

But back came the Bears, with Yann Thomas and Jack Bates finishing well before a valiant defensive set saw Pat Lam’s men hold on for a second successive pre-season win.

The Scarlets were first on the scoreboard through Scott Williams, before Sam Bedlow and Piers O'Conor combined to send Jake Heenan over.

Harry Randall's trademark snipe from the base of a scrum saw the Bears snatch back the lead, before Fifita and Hughes powered over either side of Luke Morahan's neat finish on the right-hand side, with  home team heading into the break leading 21-15.

Scarlets would score only one more time through Tomas Lezana , before replacement Yann Thomas scored under the post off the back of a tap and go penalty  for the Bears.

With just over ten minutes to go, replacement Ioan Lloyd linked up with fellow Welshman Sheedy to s end Rich Lane over the try line . Sheedy converted to nudge Bears into the lead , 28-29.

Lane would then return the favour to set up Morahan for his second out wide and the  Bears then showed some dog g ed defence  to hold out for their second pre-season victory.

Pat Lam’s side kick-off their Gallagher Premiership season against Bath at Ashton Gate on Friday, September 9 th .
